Are you a mom of color living in a nice suburban town? Well, this blog is for you. I was driving in my car one night with my oldest son taking him to purchase a new amplifier for his guitar and this name “SMOC” popped into my head. I thought; that sums up me and quite a few other moms that I know living either in my town or surrounding towns. Suburbanmomsofcolor will be a platform for you to share information on marriage and interracial relationships, parenting, health, work, finances and spirituality just to name a few topics.  Are you a mom of color?  And by that I mean, Asian, Hispanic, Indian and the list goes on…

As a Woman of Color (African-American) who has just moved to a very nice town in the suburbs, I noticed that in the town we now live in, there aren’t many moms of color. Now, that’s ok with me. I’m used to being the only brown person in the room in the circles that I travel. This site is really for ALL moms to be quite honest, the idea came about when I looked at myself as a mom of color.  But color or not, I’m still a mom and so are you!  So, look around your neighborhood when you drop your kids off at school. I’ll bet you’ll find you have quite a bit in common with some of these moms as you strike up a conversation. As women, we need to stay connected and nurture relationships amongst ourselves so that we can support one another and share what we know.
